It is about 10 pounds of hardcore heavy leather. Which is cool with me. LOADS of pockets, it has pockets inside of pockets! I have one little tiny gripe, I am normally an XL, I ordered a XXL so I would have some room to layer up, the XXL is the size of XL. So I would recommend getting the XXXL to any American male standing 6ft tall and weighing 200Lbs if you intend to wear a sweater under it and be able to ride comfortably. I considered returning it for a size higher, but I removed the liner from it to see if it would fit better and ended up having to cut off this strap that permanently held the liner in place. That would likely complicate things. It is a little snug, but not bad. I know it will keep me warm. The padding, there is some thin foam padding in the elbows and the shoulders.
